F.A.Q

If you are still unsure of which service may be more beneficial to you, please feel free to send me an email with your presenting issue or concern and I would be more than happy to address them.

  • Therapy or Coaching?

Simply put, one should seek therapy when they feel distressed or are suffering emotional pain which prevents them from functioning as they would regularly.

Coaching in contrast, is more suited for those who find themselves functioning as they normally would, but seek guidance in reaching higher potential, personal limits and greater success in the different avenues of their lives.

  • What if I am unsure of needing/starting treatment?

If you are unsure about starting treatment, feel free to send me an email with your queries at dannywong@bt-therapy.com or to schedule a direct phone call if you would prefer. I will attend to your concerns as soon as I can and within 24 working hours.

  • How long do sessions last?

    Sessions typically last 50-60minutes.

  • What is the cancellation policy for missed sessions?

You are required to give a minimum of a 24 hour notice for any cancellations. Sessions missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full session fee. Exemptions are made for cases of serious illness or emergencies.

  • How long does Counseling usually take before I get better?

The duration of therapy depends on your specific situation and presenting issues. Some clients start feeling a lot better after just a few sessions, whereas others may take longer.

  • How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you will need depend on what your goals are in either Therapy or Coaching. The quality of the client-therapist relationship/coaching alliance, the type of problem, personal history, current situation and levels of engagement will also play a part.

For example, in the case of mild to moderate severity depression, 6-8 sessions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (brief) may be used over the course of approximately 8-10 weeks; whereas in another individual case, CBT may run at the average of 12-20 sessions.

Throughout your sessions, a conscientious attempt is made to ensure that dependence on the therapist/coach is avoided, but that trust in yourself and your own capabilities to heal and grow is emphasized.
